Look, I am so in love with self-hosted WordPress blogging and I’m encouraging everyone to do it. So start a new WordPress blog right now!!!!
Here’s how: Just click on my JustHost link to the right & sign-up (month to month no-contract, or get a 1 year contract or more, it’s up to you), get your FREE new domain (or transfer an existing domain to them if you prefer), get your new WordPress installation set up in CPanel (see instructions on my previous post), once you’re done, send me an e-mail with a link to your new self-hosted WordPress blog (or post your blog link and a description of what it’s about in the comments section of this post), then for your first three months I’ll share some secrets & tips to get your site generating money for you!
You will enjoy your new blog site so much that eventually you’ll probably start making money (more on making money in your blog in future postings, I promise!!).
JustHost is such a great service provider with an excellent customer service record, and they give you so much cool bonuses (like unlimited bandwidth, an awesome $25 Google Adwords credits to start your money-making, etc) that you will NEVER – EVER regret using them instead of HostGator, DreamHost or all the other hosting dudes.
Hey, you’ve got nothing to lose. So take a leap of faith: ditch your other third-party hosted blogs and go self-hosted today! (P.S. you can always keep your old blog postings and have a link on your new blog that’s pointing to your old blogs. If you don’t know how, ask me and I’ll show you!)
Speaking of which, keep checking in my blog, and as I’m a WordPress expert, I’ll be sharing lots of tips & tricks that I’ve learned through the years building self-hosted WordPress sites for clients, from small art studios to large multinational corporations.
Let’s get those creative blog juices flowing!!
So why am I a big supporter of WordPress and not blogger or any of the other ones?
Simply put, because WordPress is the best out there, bar none. I’ve gone through many different blogging platforms through the year, and WordPress is the most comfortable and easiest to use.
Not only is it a great CMS (Content Management System) which means that you can go and modify every single aspect of it, down to making it look like a multi-million corporate website with just a few theme tweaks and a bunch of custom “Pages”, but you can also browse and install thousands and thousands of plugins and themes to make it look any way you like, thanks to their amazing API (Application Programming Interface) and Open-Source creed.
So yeah, get WordPress, and you won’t regret it!
The most basic reason why people who’ve been blogging on WordPress choose to go their own way (self-hosted) is because:
First, they get to use their own Domain name, rather than a subdomain of WordPress, e.g.: Instead of Bobsblog.wordpress.com, they can do: www.Bobsblog.com which looks way better, and gives you more credibility.
Second, Hosting your own WordPress site (Why WordPress?) on your own domain gives you pretty much unlimited speeds & bandwidth (especially if you use JustHost like I do), which will be very useful is you finally reach the million hits a day and start the dollars rolling in (and probably retire
)
Third, you don’t get the limitations of a WordPress-hosted blog, for example, if you host your site on WordPress, you’re limited to what kinds of themes you can use and what modifications you can do on them, especially the fact that you can’t freely modify your stylesheet (the CSS files in theĀ “Appearance” section of your dashboard) unless you pay upgrade fees.
There are many other reasons, but these are the most important ones, so, take the plunge today and sign-up at JustHost to create your own self-hosted blog. Click on my banner to the right in order to also get a Free Domain for life (e.g. www.YourName.com) free of charge! It’s a pretty amazing deal. Once you sign up, getting WordPress set up is a breeze, on your CPanel (Control Panel interface) just click on “WordPress install”, choose the root folder of your site (don’t create a sub-directory unless you can create a redirect from your root folder) and CPanel will do all the work for you, including building your database, setting up your Admin account and getting you up and running! It’s that easy!
Once you get into your Admin dashboard for the first time, this is where the fun begins! First run into your Settings and set up all the basics, including the Title of your blog, catch-phrase, etc. set your security settings as you prefer them, then head over to Appearance and browse from thousands of free themes that you can install on your new self-hosted WordPress site!!
Planning to start your own stand-alone WordPress blog? There are many question one must ask before making the leap from basic / free WordPress hosted service on WordPress.com to your very own self-hosted WordPress blog. This blog is dedicated to those of you who are looking for tips and advice on how to create your new standalone WordPress site, and how to make it look its best with some of the best themes out there.
